Highlights the quarterly performance, Telecommunications business per-quarter revenue reached a record 17.82 Won, up 52 percent from the previous year, with growth primarily driven by strong sales of the Samsung GALAXY S II and Samsung GALAXY Note. Operating profit for the business also reached a record 2.64 Won in this quarter.
Results in the fourth quarter to bring the Samsung achieved the highest revenue for the year 2011 amounting trillion won, up 7 percent from a year earlier. Recorded a net profit of 13.73 trillion won, down 15 percent compared to 2010, while operating profit amounted to 16.25 trillion won, down 6 percent.
"Increased profitability and revenue growth of our business sets, including flat-panel TVs smartphonedan cause strong earnings in our company," said Robert Yi, Senior Vice President and Head of Investor Relations.
In 2012, capital expenditure is estimated at 25 trillion won in the amount of which 15 trillion Won will be invested in the Semiconductor Business of memory and system LSI. Of the total Capex planned for this year, 6.6 trillion will be allocated for investment in the segment of the Panel Display (DP), which includes the LCD business and part of the Samsung Mobile Display.
