Symantec has released information about a new threat known as a variant of the Trojan horse, called "Android.Counterclank." "Android.Tonclank."
This malware is embedded into a variety of applications in the Android Market and once the application is downloaded, it will launch a service that sends information from the device, such as MAC Address, Serial SIM, IMEI, and IMSI, back to the malicious host.
Symantec has estimated that Android.Counterclank has been installed at between 1 million to 5 million devices. One sure way to know you are infected is the icon "Search" on the homescreen, which is depicted in the graph below.
Symantec has identified some malicious app that is spread over three publishers:

By removing these applications should also remove the malware from the device:
1. Open the Google Android Menu.
2. Go to the Settings icon and select Applications.
3. Next, click Manage.
4. Select the application and click the Uninstall button.
